Firm History

Moribame Matthews was established in July 2007 by its two founding partners, Keneilwe Mere (nee. Moribame) and Kgaotsang Matthews. Both partners are experience lawyers who “cut their mettle” in their respective areas of practice. The firm provides services directly to blue chip clients within Botswana and acts as advisors to international clients and law firms on matters regarding Botswana Law.

Having observed a lack of client-centricity amongst many of the legal service providers in the country, the Partners decided to set up Moribame Matthews with the view to advancing client’s interests through exemplary service combined with thoughtful and pragmatic advice.

Since its inception, Moribame Matthews has, in line with the Firm’s vision, experienced a steady growth in all aspects of areas of practice, particularly in the areas of litigation, debt collections, property and conveyancing as well as corporate/commercial transactions. The firm intends on maintaining this growth in future and in the process, as a necessary ingredient to growth, has increased its staff complement, particularly with respect to legal professional assistants (attorneys).

In 2007, the firm had only two attorneys, those being the partners, and today has five attorneys. Two Partners, two professional assistants and a student attorney.

To meet the growing demands of its clientele, the firm has relocated from its initial office in Village, Gaborone to the Central Business District where it is centrally located and easily accessible to most clients.

The firm has advised and continues to advise following sectors;

  • Capital Markets and Corporate
  • Health Care
  • Hotel and Tourism
  • Engineering, Construction and Building
  • Mining, Energy and Natural Resources
  • Property
  • Banking and Finance
